For one intensive weekend with professor Matt Richardson, a class of ITP nerds had the chance to get familiarized with the tiny, trendy Raspberri Pi computer and some of it’s applications in making media-making devices. Raspberry Pi Raspberry Pi is a small affordable computer (starting at $35) that can do basically anything you tell it to do. It’s highly customizable and it’s official documentation is geared to kids, making it quite easy to learn. It has an operating system, Raspbian, which delights the user with a somewhat familiar desktop interface. To begin using it you’ll need to load on a…

About Synesthesia Synesthesia is a neurological condition in which the stimulation of one sensory or cognitive pathway (for example, hearing) leads to automatic, involuntary experiences in a second sensory or cognitive pathway (such as vision)- Google’s 1st search result Synesthesia is one of my favorite subjects personally, both aesthetically and intellectually. Also it’s a trendy theme in the burner art-nightlife culture. Previous Work https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m9-B47xr1YQ For the Synesthesia assignment I’d like to revisit a former work of mine: a Blacklight-reactive acrylic artwork I painted and presented in 2018. The subject of the one painting I like to focus on, as one can…

The Making Of an original art toy – from sketch to sculpted prototype Sqoosh Farms More than a series of art toys, Sqoosh Farms is an entire universe. In Sqoosh-verse, instead of cultivating wheat, humans have cultivated this marvelous mutated grain: sqoosh. An animated TV show, a series of computer games – from casual gaming (Sqoosh Farmville) to VR multiplayer adventure. An immersive art experience?! Of course! These are all in the works. Sqoosh is a magical natural resource. Its texture is between a cloud and a flan; between cotton candy to marshmallow to bouncy slime.  It’s an aphrodisiac, an…

Light and Color in Set Design Being obsessed with color, it was a pleasure to take on a favorite wavelength to experiment with designing an original set for my own independent production. The set was of a futuristic, non-religious confession booth. The chosen color was warm bright red, around 700nm. Additionally, I mixed in a complimentary bright blue colors, with an average wave length of 500nm. My goal was to experiment with color and light to create an environment that’s comfortable and inviting, visually rich and cinematically interesting. The fabrics and materials used were reflective, The function of the set…

My first attempt at art toy design had begun when we received 5 blank wooden figurines from art toy enthusiast professor Benjamin Light. He showed us his variations of these figurines. Initial ideas on what can be done with the figurines included a big happy family of body-positive kinky statues. Pretty basic human idea, as ancient as these 23,000-year-old figurines. The motivation Art toys are not necessarily kids toys.  They’re meant to be collected and admired, not played with. However, when I showed the blank figurines to my 2 year old kid it was clear these are meant for him….

After a winter of work and creativity, it is my honor and pleasure to present two original art pieces at New York City’s major interactive events and launch zroob.com’s travel division. Meditation Tunnel at ITP Spring Show Step into the Meditation Tunnel: a mind-bending, hypnotic, exhilarating experience that pushes beyond the boundaries of VR. The way to ride the Meditation Tunnel is via a VR headset, while seated on a unicorn in a magical transformative environment. While the main pinnacle of the Meditation Tunnel happens within the headset, it’s certainly not limited to it. I can go on about the…

An interactive gift basket that gives it’s recipient insight on which energy source is best for them, based on their beloved preference: money or the environment Energy Basket – environmental critical object by Alizarin Zroob Fossil fuel is finite. In the pace we’re using it, it’ll all be gone in decades. In comparison, the sun is estimated to have 5 billion years of shining left. The fact most of the earth (~80%) is still powered by fossil fuel is a calamity. Energy basket is communicating this simple truth with a simple, playful interface. https://youtu.be/1tM0FD36TUg Conclusion: Even if you’re greedy, renewable…

Topic / Subject: Fossil Fuel With the environment being my most important client, I’d like to criticize the absurd use of fossil-fuel and petroleum-based materials. Besides being a major pollutant, fossil fuel is finite, and it’s about to run out. Our world in Data states coal will run out in 114 years, oil and natural gas in ~50 years. Other sources have even shorter estimates. In any case it only makes sense to make a shift towards using renewable energy. In this final project, I’d like to design an object that will encourage this shift. Limitations / constraints ☻ Attribute:…

A new critical object from Tanic Nakpresha and Alizarin Zroob is A makeup box counting the time accumulated applying makeup and compares it to the time necessary to accomplish life goals. Topic: Beauty StandardsAttribute: TimeMood: HarshDevice: Statistical facts With the beauty industry pushing us spending more time and more money on obeying to arbitrary beauty standards, the actual accomplishments that represent actual success are being pushed aside. Intelligence and education, health and fitness, and basic commodities such as housing, cellphones and avocados. Studies found that average women spend 2 years of their lives wearing makeup, and nearly $200,000. This original…
