Topic / Subject: Fossil Fuel

With the environment being my most important client, I’d like to criticize the absurd use of fossil-fuel and petroleum-based materials.

Besides being a major pollutant, fossil fuel is finite, and it’s about to run out. Our world in Data states coal will run out in 114 years, oil and natural gas in ~50 years. Other sources have even shorter estimates.

In any case it only makes sense to make a shift towards using renewable energy. In this final project, I’d like to design an object that will encourage this shift.

Limitations / constraints

☻ Attribute: Organic

☻ Device: Comparison

☻ Aesthetic: Adorable

After crafting critical objects that are violent and harsh, such as Dildon’t and the Anti-Anti-Vaxx Dunk Tank, I feel compelled to design an object that’s opposite in mood. Something that’s more family-friendly and communicates across ages and languages. An object that sharply criticizes and illustrates the problem, while evoking a sense of wonder and awe. I’d like to celebrate my sugar-coated visual style and sincere love to the organic, and still produce a design/art work which harnesses technology in an original way to make a powerful statement.

These limitations are challenging and untraditional in the world of critical objects, where disobedience and discomfort rule. However I believe that after an entire semester of sharpening my critical tools I’ll be able to produce an object that’s both critical and cute.
